:: Takeru Takaishi::
Face Claim: Takeru Takaishi
Nicknames: TK (and misspellings by Daisuke)
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Digivice: White Center, Green Edged D-3
Appearance:
Like his mother and older brother, Takeru has light, blonde hair (a possible genetic trait from his relatives in France) as well as light blue eyes. His face has what is almost a permanent smile on his face, presenting a rather warm and friendly persona to the world. This is helped by his eyes, which are joined with his smile in being warm and inviting. It is almost impossible to stay mad at Takeru with such features. Whenever he does get upset (usually anything in relation to darkness), however, it is surprising how much anger and hatred can appear on his face. When this is pointed out to him, however, Takeru feels rather embarrassed about it, and he has been working on calming down so he doesn’t present himself as scary.[/blockquote]
He has a decently built body, being rather thin but strong. He is also a little bit on the tall side, though not by much; he’s only a few inches taller than Hikari. Still, he’s in great shape, mostly from his time on the basketball team and the required training and exercise that goes with it. This doesn’t keep him from being a heavy eater though; Takeru has no fear in digging in to sweets or food. In response, however, he makes sure to work out, play some games, possible run in the Digital World. No matter what, Takeru keeps himself in great shape and thin without really working that hard at it.
A sign of Takeru’s laid back personality can be seen in his clothes (and hairstyle). His blonde hair is usually rather messy, only combed enough that it isn’t sticking up everywhere. Most of the time, however, it really doesn’t matter as it is covered up with his white fisherman’s hat. It is one of Takeru’s prized possessions, and he wears it almost everywhere he goes. The rest of his clothing is rather casual as well. His shirt is a long-sleeved shirt with light blue and yellow collar scheme. There is a collar that props up around his neck, which is yellow. The sleeves and the sides are also yellow, with the torso being light blue. He also wears a small tag of some sort.
Moving lower, Takeru tends to wear a pair of lightly green/gray shorts that go to just past his knees. He also wears a pair of green shoes with dark-grey socks. This combination of shorts and comfortable shoes is great for all the physical activity that he takes part in. Without being concerned about his looks that much, Takeru has no fear in performing physically demanding tasks or travelling throughout the Digital World. After all, when rampaging Monochromon is chasing you, do you really have time to worry about if your clothes match?
Overall, Takeru’s sense of style is one of casual and practical over stylish. While his shorts, long-sleeve shirt, and shoes are his normal combination, he occasionally changes it up. What doesn’t change, however, is the fact his outfit is always comfortable, laid back, and perfect for physical activity.
Personality:
Even with all that has happened to him, Takeru has remained a rather sweet and optimistic kid, a personality befitting the holder of the Crest of Hope. Takeru is a rather friendly individual, always ready to greet people with a smile and a “Good morning” (or other time-appropriate responses). He can almost always be found with a smile on his face, and he isn’t afraid to laugh either. To many people, it seems that there is almost nothing that can bring Takeru down; he is always a giant ball of optimism. This leads him to act what some might call ‘childish’ at times, playfully teasing others and joking around. Rarely is he trying to be mean about it, and if someone expresses dislike of it he’ll stop. Takeru isn’t the kind of person to go out and look for a fight after all. Instead, he wants everybody to get along and be friends.[/blockquote]
Alongside Takeru’s friendliness is his ability care for others. Many times he is willing to put the needs of others in front of his own, especially his friends. Takeru is almost always the first to want to protect his friends, especially Patamon and Hikari, his best friends. The former he is a bit over protective of due to the fear of losing him again, a fear he has had ever since Patamon (as Angemon) had to sacrifice himself to defeat Devimon. As for Hikari, Takeru has been friends with her ever since they were young, and throughout the battle with the battles with the Dark Masters he vowed to protect her. To this day he still holds that vow, and many times Takeru is able to know something is bothering Hikari before anyone else does. His care for his friends isn’t limited to those two, however; Takeru cares greatly for all his friends.
Takeru, however, does have a few points that work against him. Even if he is friendly and caring, Takeru can be a bit stubborn headed when he gets an idea in his head. Sometimes this helpful, such as when his friends are in danger and he can’t give up. Other times it is a bit dangerous, such as when he was younger and had a fight with Patamon. Over all, whenever Takeru gets a thought in his head that he truly believes in, he will never give up on it for as long possible. Considering a stubbornness to surrender even in the face of overwhelming is an aspect of Hope, it is rather appropriate for Takeru to act this way at times.
While Takeru may be a usually sweet, warm, and friendly person, there is one thing that can turn him serious and cold; the powers of darkness. Still traumatized by his loss of Patamon against Devimon, Takeru has a great hatred for the powers of darkness. He finds it almost unforgivable for someone to use them, and was rather hard on Ken when he was trying to reform himself. Whenever faced with the powers of darkness, Takeru becomes a lot ‘scarier’, so to speak. He becomes angrier, colder, and more serious; the complete opposite of his normal self. Takeru is determined to destroy the forces of darkness whenever they rear their ugly head so no one has to suffer as he and his friends have. This relationship with darkness has, to a degree, allowed Takeru to gain a closer relationship with Hikari and, to a lesser extent, Ken. As both of them have suffered their own darkness (and come face to face with a physical representation of it, the Dark Ocean), Takeru is understanding of them, and is ready to help them over come it whenever it threatens them. At times, however, Takeru can get a little fanatical about it, which can scare some of his friends at times.
Takeru also has a close relationship with his older brother Yamato. Even though their parents are divorced, and each of them living with a different parent, Takeru remains close to Yamato. When they were younger Yamato was rather overprotective of Takeru, who always fought back trying to be independent. This streak of independence still exists today, if lessened by the fact they were older now. Still, Takeru wants to show he is capable of handling himself without having his brother interfere in everything. However, Takeru is more willing to accept his brother’s help when it is needed, and does ask for advice from him. Other times, however, they argue like two brothers will do, but in the end they always path things up.
One of the weirder relations for Takeru is that of him and Daisuke’s. Apparently Daisuke considers him as a rival for Hikari, and therefore acts rather jealous of Takeru. Takeru has noticed this, but as it has lessened over time, he is able to blow it off. In fact, he finds the entire situation rather funny, and isn’t afraid to laugh a little when it is brought up. However, Takeru has a feeling Daisuke might be a little right about his feelings Hikari. While at the moment he doesn’t consider them more than best friends, Takeru does feel as if the two of them have an unusually close relationship, even without the connection between Hope and Light. At the moment, however, Takeru isn’t going to risk anything by trying to go further; he is perfectly content on him and Hikari remaining close friends. Still, he can’t help himself at times by ‘flirting’ with Hikari, if just to get a reaction out of Daisuke for the laughs of it.
History:
Long before he was ever a Chosen Child, Takeru Takaishi was a simple, little kid. Like all the others he lived in Highton View Terrace with his brother and the rest of his family. Life was normal until the “terrorist attack” occurred. Takeru was still very young, and his memory of the event was rather fuzzy, but as all the Chosen knew, it wasn’t a simple terrorist attack; it was Digimon. A Greymon and a Parrotmon had battled in the streets of Highton View Terrace, with all of them standing by and watching. The exact details of that night are lost to Takeru, and he barely remembered it even as they were told the story. All he knows is that night his destiny was set, but it would be a few years before he could fulfill it.[/blockquote]
In between the incident and his first trip to the Digital World, Takeru’s life took a rather dramatic turn. After moving from Highton View Terrace due to the ‘attacks’, his parents had begun to argue a lot. They were rather quiet whenever Takeru was in the room, and as far as he knew everything was going along perfectly. He lived in blissful ignorance as his parents began to plan to divorce. Eventually the time came, but the decision of whom would get what kid was given to Matt, who decided to let Takeru go with his mother. Takeru soon found himself separated from his big brother, but due to his young age he still had no clue what was really going on, and remained cheerful.
Still, he was rather depressed that he was no longer living with his older brother, and he missed Yamato greatly. He would always bug his mother about going to visit his father, just to see Yamato. Taking full advantage of his young age, Takeru almost always got his way. Times were fun whenever he visited his father, but Matt always seemed to so overprotective of Takeru. Sometimes Takeru wished he would back off a little, but he knew his brother was just doing it because he loved him. Still, in response to all the ‘babying’ so to speak, Takeru began to develop a lust for independence, though when things got rough he always fell back on Yamato.
Eventually the time came for Takeru to fulfill his role as a Chosen Child. It was during a summer camp (with his brother there of course) that him and all the others found themselves thrown into the chaos that was the Digital World. Takeru, even if he acted a little childish at times, tried his best to act as independent of Yamato as possible. He wanted to show his older brother that he wasn’t a baby anymore, that he was capable of taking care of himself. Of course, he never was truly alone; he had Patamon. Immediately the two of them had a close bond, with Takeru never wanting Patamon to fight. It was his hope the others would be able to deal with the dangers of the Digital World, but soon it came down to Patamon to save them all when the first antagonist they faced, Devimon, defeated the others.
What happened next still scars Takeru to this day. Patamon Digivolved into Angemon, absorbing the powers of the others to defeat Devimon. In the ensuing battle, however, Angemon was forced to sacrifice himself in order to defeat Devimon once and for all. While Patamon eventually returned to him, Takeru feared he had lost Patamon forever. To this very day Takeru has a great hatred for “the powers of darkness”, and still fears losing Patamon again. This experience of loss, however, allowed Takeru to ‘grow up’ a little, though still held onto some of his childish behavior. As for Patamon, while the two of them still fought every once in awhile (such as when DemiDevimon tried to break up their trust), Takeru could never truly stay mad with his best friend.
Takeru played a vital role in many of the various battles. Joe’s attempt to save him from drowning activated his crest and allowed Gomamon to Digivolve to his Ultimate level. When Myotismon returned as VenomMyotismon, it was him and Hikari’s partners that allowed Agumon and Gabumon to Digivolve to WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon by fulfilling an ancient prophecy. This also served as a sign of a stronger bond between him and Hikari that has gotten stronger over time. They were Hope and Light and after all.
During the battles against the Dark Masters, Puppetmon kidnapped Takeru. Remaining strong and confident in himself, Takeru was able to survive against Puppetmon, and even struck a blow against him. By taunting Puppetmon about not having friends, Takeru upset the Dark Master enough that in the ensuing chase the Digimon destroyed his own mansion, freeing his friends from his control. Takeru felt rather confident in himself, though Yamato had some difficulty accepting Takeru’s ability to take care of himself. When Hikari became sick, Takeru helped to take care of her, and continued to do his best to protect her when it came to the fight against Piedmon. The two of them were all that were left, his resolve to protect her and save his brother and friends activated his Crest of Hope. MagnaAngemon, Patamon’s Ultimate, defeated the Dark Master and restored the others to their non-keychain forms. Reunited, the Chosen defeated Apocalymon.
After the defeat of Apocalymon and the tearful separation from their Digimon, life settled down for the Chosen. There was the incident with Diaboramon that almost lead to nuclear war, but Omnimon stopped him. At some point Takeru, as well as the others, also gave up their crests to free the Digimon Sovereign and strengthen the barrier that protected the Digital World. Takeru also began to take up sports as a hobby, particularly basketball. From time to time he would see the others, but as his mother and him lived outside of the district, it was a bit hard. In the end, however, he knew he would see not only them, but also Patamon again some day.
That day came a lot faster than he had expected, however. Upon moving back to Odaiba, Takeru found himself in the middle of another adventure in the Digital World. Him, Hikari, and three others; Daisuke, Iori, and Miyako. The actions of “The Digimon Emperor”, or as they later found out Ken Ichijouji, greatly angered Takeru; Digimon were friends, not slaves. When faced with Ken’s actions, such as Kimeramon, Takeru found it almost impossible to trust him when Ken renounced “the darkness” and said he wanted to join them.
Eventually, however, Takeru began to trust Ken, and to this day he remains a good friend. Takeru also developed a relationship of sorts with Iori, whose partner Armadillomon DNA Digivolved with Patamon to form Shakkoumon. Daisuke’s relation with Takeru has been rather…odd. Daisuke considers Takeru (or TJ, or TL, or other misspellings of TK) a rival for Hikari’s heart, a thought that may have more truth to it than believed. Takeru had vowed to protect Hikari way back during the battle with Piedmon, and when the Dark Ocean threatened her, Takeru was one of the first to notice her odd behavior and was greatly worried for her. While he doesn’t have any plans on dating his childhood friend, Takeru still greatly cares for her.
The threat to the Digital World that had called them all together, however, turned out to be Myotismon, returned in the form of MaloMyotismon. United with all the other Chosen around the world, however, Takeru and the others were able to defeat him. This time there was no separation from his partner; Patamon was around to stay. Soon life returned to normal (minus Patamon living around with of course, which was a good thing), and the pressures of everyday life came. School, potential jobs, basketball, and much more. Still, it was nice to not have to have the fate of the world on his shoulders. There was no darkness to fight now. Just the math test next period that he didn’t study for due to basketball practice.

From an old Digimon site with my character Kichiro. Admin sadly deleted the site when it died.
”I really hate homework…” Kichiro groaned as he filled his book-bag with textbook after textbook worth of stuff. While he enjoyed the slight prestige in being one of the smarter students in school and being in some of the more advanced classes, the work related to it all was a real pain. It was as if all the textbook companies in the world were in a competition with each other to make the biggest textbook in existence. He shouldn’t be complaining too much, however; at least the biggest book (his Chemistry textbook) wasn’t being added to the mix. If it had, well, he could have donated his book-bag to the local gym as weights.
With one last tug he was able to get the zipper to close all the way, and after making sure it wouldn’t split open, hefted it onto his shoulder. The sudden shift in weight almost threw him to the floor as it tugged at him. Within seconds his balance was restored, and he was free to continue on with his day. Of course, that really didn’t mean much really; other than the overload of homework, absolutely nothing had been going on. The morning had been simple; brush teeth, comb hair, get dressed, eat breakfast, and inform Tapirmon that once again he was not supposed to follow him to school.
Tapirmon, boy, he could be a pain at times. Kichiro knew his Digimon was well meaning, and at times he didn’t mind the Digimon popping up at school. Sometimes, however, it could cause a lot of trouble. For example, those bullies that Tapirmon dealt with? They ended up needing to visit guidance counselors for a few weeks to deal with the nightmares. While he knew his partner was just trying to defend him, did he really need to give them visions of what basically amounted to Dante’s Inferno, except with them in it? Ever since Kichiro had been trying to curb his partner’s enthusiasm, but every once in awhile the Digimon got too excited and went all out. On the bright side, those instances tended to be rather predictable. It was either when Kichiro was ‘in danger’ (real or imagined) or there was ‘a lady’ involved.
Still, most of the time it wasn’t bad at all. When he wasn’t busy trying to ‘put the fear of Azulongmon’ in the hearts of Kichiro’s enemies (a phrase Kichiro had been trying to phase of Tapirmon’s vocabulary with minimal success), Tapirmon was assisting Kichiro in other ways. Tapirmon, in a very odd way, was what Kichiro was hoping he could be; confident, courageous, and not completely terrified of dealing with girls. Sure, Tapirmon probably went a little far sometimes (trying to kiss a ladies hand when you have tusks is not a good idea), but he was at least sincere. And over the last few years, Kichiro had gotten a lot better. At least he wasn’t dumbstruck talking to people anymore; he could get decent length conversations accomplished now.
With his mind wandering, Kichiro almost missed the stairs he was going to need to take in order to get out of the school. He walked right past them, but his memory kicked in, and reminded him exactly what he need to do. Turning around, he reached the edge of the stairs when suddenly he heard a rather familiar voice, one that shouldn’t have been there; Tapirmon’s
”There you are, your Royal Highness Kichiro!” Tapirmon said with both a formal and excited tone.
Kichiro wasn’t looking at Tapirmon, but just simply sighed. How many times had he told the Digimon to not use that phrase! He was not a king or anything like that; he was his partner. They were equals, not king and peasant. Besides, Tapirmon shouldn’t have been there in the first place; he was supposed to stay in either Kichiro’s room or in back alleys near his apartment. This wasn’t the first time Tapirmon had come all the way to school to find Kichiro, and it wasn’t the first time he had snuck up on him. Apparently having smoke for legs and being able to float made for a rather easy time sneaking around.
”Tapirmon, how many times have I told you to…”
Tapirmon smacked right into Kichiro with a hug, which was not the best idea with a heavy backpack on his back and standing next to the stairs. Kichiro was pushed right past the point of being able to play a balancing act, and sent right down the stairs. About the only thing that made the situation better was that his backpack cushioned his fall to a degree, and that it was a rather short flight of stairs. Tapirmon still holding onto him, however, didn’t make it any more comfortable, and chances were somebody was at the bottom of the stairs at this time.
Yep, just another day for my life….
