WHAT DO YOU VALUE IN A FORUM?
A beating heart? Starless was founded in August of 2008 and is still alive today. Granted, it is a small community, friendly and personable, but with dedicated staff and scribes like these, it is in no danger of dying any time soon. A gorgeous layout? Spot designs our beautiful banners and skins, always easy on the eyes, and Ten makes sure the boards and tables are well-organized, with a thing for every place and a place for everything. No big blinding messes. We promise. A reasonable set of rules? We’re sensible folks and we trust you not to be a moron. Why outlaw what’s already against the Proboards Rules? You’re not going to do any of that stuff, so we tell you the important things you need to know, like the minimums for post length and for account activity. A functional currency? By posting anywhere on the site, you earn lizard tails, which you can then use to buy graphics from other scribes or to purchase special attributes for new characters, such as a rare eye color. This keeps uncommon genes uncommon and supplies little goals to keep you posting. A great plot? You’ve never seen a set-up like this. A lot of role play “plots” stuff you in a script and restrict the important roles to a select few. Our idea of a plot is different in so many ways, you’ll have to read it to understand –- it’s a geyser of potential conflicts ( real conflicts, character vs. character). The downside of our uniqueness is that you can’t import foreign characters, but the upsides include all the possibilities for new ones, and there are no boundaries or borders to keep them from interacting with any other character on the site at any time. Quality writing? Role playing is an art, but that doesn’t mean it’s all about coming up with the cat that looks the coolest. At Starless, each time you start an in-character fight, debate, battle, or dramatic scene, another scribe can nominate you for a point. The points you earn are yours forever, badges of honor for your contribution to the site. See how many you can get. Biography scrutiny? We have a thorough reviewing system that examines every aspect of your characters –- and if they doesn’t mesh with the plot or you have too many errors, you don’t get some big fat “REJECTED” stamp, but neither do you get a shrug and a free pass. Staff discuss the characters with you so you can develop them along the way. Thinking that your work is either perfection or it's garbage won’t get you anywhere. It’s a process, and that’s how writing is supposed to be.
