Serious Business
Destiny, Such a random thing.
Hastily, Evander made his way through the crowded streets. He did not like it here for one bit, all these people staring at him. He knew why they were staring at him though, it were the colourful clothes he was wearing. Everybody was dressed in plain black costumes with a coloured tie at most in the business district. Swiftly he shot down into a dark alley, feeling the egg wobble around a bit in his backpack as he suddenly changed direction. He stood still for a moment and sighed. Finally, no more eyes pointing in his direction. No more people questioning themselves as to why he was there. Peace and serenity. Everything was al right. His ears twitched as he heard a soft sound. Iron clattering with iron it seemed. As he looked up, he saw a cat shoot away behind some dumpsters and a trash can on it's side. Nothing to worry about. Just a trash can that fell over thanks to a cat. Slowly he put his hand into his pocket, stroking over the small device in there. What could this little thing be and why did it glow so brightly when his computer formed that egg? Out of nowhere, the little device in his pocket suddenly started to glow with red light and it started to bleep. Evander quickly pulled it out his pocket, staring at the display. Two red dots could be seen on the screen, one of them staying in the middle whilst the other one was closing in on the biggest dot. Was this some sort of radar? He slowly looked up into the direction of the flickering dot.

A figure broke the light pouring into the alleyway.
"....buried treasure..." "I highly doubt that Ino-chama." "...nuclear missile..." "N-no..." "...well then wha-"
[/i][/color] As her eye's adjusted she saw a boy huddled in the back of the niche. The girl's arm was outstretched, the device cradled in her hand making a beeping noise and giving off a soft red light. Her other arm held something that resembled a stuffed raccoon head wearing a metal helmet of some sort. The 'toy' blinked at the boy in the dark but soon became still. Ino was on her own for now as Kapurimon would have to act as a doll. The girl stood in front of the light. A silver outline of her hair could be seen. Her clothes were not terribly interesting, only a simple blue school girl outfit. Her expression was virtually emotionless, her grey eyes dull and tired looking as her lips remained in a neutral frown. A few silent moments passed before awkwardly shifting her weight back and forth on her feet in a strange sway, she turned the digivice to face him, the dot beeping and glowing brightly. Without warning she approached him and the beeping became louder and faster. Ino's mouth opened slightly as she flipped the device around in her hand and stared blankly at Evander. "...what're you doing to my thingy...?" she asked him in a completely toneless voice. The Kapurimon's eyes began to water and redden from trying to keep them open for so long. He was also holding his breath so he wouldn't move. Suddenly he drew in a long, raspy inhale and began to pant. Ino glanced down at her digimon, showing no change in emotion. ...
"S-sorry Ino-chama I had to breathe!" he whined and pressed his face against her side. "...cat's out of the bag..." [/sub] [/blockquote][/blockquote] [/sup][/font]

As he looked up, he could merely recognise a figure of a small girl as he peered into the bright light of the main street. The figure started to increase size, meaning only one thing; the person it belonged to was getting closer! Evander's eyes widened as he suddenly spotted some kind of weird toy in her hands. As she got closer, he noticed the red light on the screen as well as the same characteristic beeps his thing made. Where they somehow communicating?
He then looked at the person holding the device. A young girl, wearing a blue school costume. And she was holding some awkward toy, some kind of fluffy stuffed animal with a horned helmet. The look on her face was rather neutral, no expression to be found in her eyes whatsoever. She didn't look surprised to see him or anything. He was taken by surprise when she put out her question, not having expected her to be that vocal out of nowhere.
"...what're you doing to my thingy...?"
Doing to her thingy? What thingy? Oh, right. That thingy. Well, if only I knew myself. My thingy went bleep with your thingy. No wait, that's to damn childish. What am I rambling on about?! Get yourself together, Evander. You're supposed to deal with this an educated manner! What the hell are these things?
All kinds of thought went through his mind as he stared down at the little device in his hand. It was still bleeping wildly, the red light now illuminating his face and hand. When he looked up again, he slowly opened up his mouth and at the very moment he wanted to tell his answer to the other child, the toy started to make noises and move! It was breathing!
Evander fell backwards as the toy spoke against the girl, the girl not being fazed by it suddenly coming alive and communicating with her. His eyes became wide as he layed there, trying to support himself with one arm whilst pointing towards that beast in her arms. "W-wha-what the heck is that..." He softly said, pointing towards it with his other arm. This was going to be one strange day for him.

Ino watched Evander fall backwards completely unfazed. Kapurimon, on the other hand, appeared hurt that he had been treated like some kind of alien or vicious monster. He thought as Kapurimon, that he was at least slightly cute-looking.
"I-it's not v..very polite to point, b...brother."
The digimon hid his face, expecting some kind of verbal retaliation from the male. However Ino spoke up before she would allow Evander to do that. "...are you seriously threatend by a blue ball of fluff...?..." she'd laugh if she wanted people to honestly believe she had a soul.
Despite her gentle jab she pocketed her digivice and extended a hand for Evander to choose to take. It wasn't like Ino to let someone sit in the dirt, especially people with such colorful and unique attires. "...how can you see with all that hair in your face...?..." she began, keeping her gaze fixated on his clothing. "...if you like bangs so much you should cut them shorter so people...can at least see your eyes...your natural colors are bland but you make up for it with colorful clothes... so that's good..."
Silence.
"....this is my digimon by the way his name is Kapurimon..."

Evander was still on the ground, his finger still stretched out towards the thing as it told him pointing wasn't polite in a sad, almost crying voice. As he opened up his mouth to talk back to it, he was swiftly interrupted by the young girl holding the thing.
"...are you seriously threated by a blue ball of fluff...?..."
Threatened? Yes, he was actually! Stuffed animals should not speak to him, that wasn't normal. And when things get abnormal, they often indicate bad stuff is about to happen; that's a given!
"N-no.." Evander answered, looking at the girl. He couldn't show his fear in the presence of her, a girl out of all people. How would he ever be able to show his face out in public again if he'd admit his fear of the thing in front of her? He wouldn't and he knew that deep down inside. So he decided to lie to her, for the time being at least.
She then extended her hand in front of him, offering a helping hand in getting up from the ground. Not to sure if he should accept the kind offer from the small person, he softly grabbed the hand and used his right arm to swiftly push himself up to his feet. He wouldn't be able to forgive himself if he'd let the young child collapse due to his bodyweight. He was taller than her and he knew he probably outweighed her by quite a bit too. No need to make this any harder than it already was.
As he got up, she started to ramble on about his hair and clothes. Something about his bangs being to long for people to see his eyes properly and his clothes being a good match-up for his colourless face and body. Evander didn't really pay attention to her words, his mind was focused on something else. The talking little fur ball in her hands, as well as the strange devices they both had. Evander's was still beeping and bringing out a red light in the darkness. There had to be a logical explanation for this, there just had to be.
Then she suddenly spoke out the word "Digimon". Evander's ear twitched as the word entered his brain. Digimon, digimon? What the hell was a digimon? Some kind of fancy new toy they had nowadays, operated by artificial intelligence? And what was a Kapurimon? That little ball of fluff she was holding? It all became to damn confusing for him.
"Wha-what's a digimon?" Evander asked the little girl, looking at the fluffy ball in her hands and then back at her expressionless face. Maybe she would be able answer his questions regarding the fluffy ball in her hands, the strange little devices they both had and perhaps even the egg he was carrying in his backpack. Somehow he had the feeling all of these things were connected to one another. But why? That was a real question, for now.

Ino just stared at the boy for a little while longer before slowly blinking at him. Poo, did he really just discard all that wonderful advice that she had taken so long to list for him? How rude. Not that she really cared, most people either didn't respond to her lectures or found them offensive. Ah well, let himself be half-blind with all that hair in his face for the rest of his life. He better not say she didn't warn him!
As he came to his feet, she took a step backwards to look at the towering young man. Wow she must have looked like a little kid compared to him. She glanced down at Kapurimon as he inquired about what a digimon is. "...well that's a silly question... a digimon is..."
She turned her attention back to Evander and opened her mouth to speak.
...
...
...
"...I have no idea... but they're sure cute..." she affirmed by pressing Kapurimon against her expressionless face in a half-assed kind of nuzzle. Kapurimon responded to this to flicking his tail, yelling muffled protests against her face.
"I'o-ch-a-ma-h'w-c'n-y'u-n't-kn'w!?" "hm?" Ino slowly pulled the digimon away from her face, staring right at him.
"I spent hours trying to explain to you - I'm a digital monster! Weren't you paying any attention to me? You have been chosen to protect the digiworld - the digivices prove it!"
Ino then tilted her head up in thought, as she stared at the sky she actually began to recall that conversation. That was when MetalKoromon had first digivolved into Kapurimon and he started rambling on about her responsibilities while she was imagining tying bows and ribbons around his horns. Maybe along with a little eyeliner and mascara to really bring out his red eyes. What would he turn into next? Something even cuter than before? That was definitely the case with MetalKoromon, the thing had no eyelashes to begin with!Oh the possibilities.!
"...oh...yeah..." she shrugged and looked back down at Evander. Kapurimon turned his head towards him and gave him an affirmative nod.
"And that thing you have there is a digivice, too! Though I haven't seen a model like that before... you should have a digimon, too, if that's the case!"

Standing up, he looked the young girl straight into her eyes and he could see she was wondering about something. He softly stroked a hand through his hair, slowly letting the bangs in front of his eyes roll around a bit before they were slung back into their original position. He really liked his hair the way it was, it gave him some kind of mask from other people and gave him an extra sense of security when being in the company of strangers. It was one of the rare comforting things he had in the presence of other people, actually.
He looked at the couple bickering like a pair of little kids. They went on about digimon being digital monsters of something, Evander didn't really understand it. If that thing was a DIGITAL monster, how the hell did it get here? He knew enough about computers to know that such things weren't possible and he sure as hell wasn't a hologram judging by the fact the girl could actually cuddle with him and hold him. There was something extremely bizarre happening, right here in front of him.
"A.. digivice?" Evander said, after the digimon said what the devices were. He stared at it for a moment and then re-called the one the girl had, they certainly did seem similar in a way although his seemed less... sophisticated? Looking at the screen, out of nowhere the device started to bleep wildly and the screen brought out all sorts of light.
-crack-
-crack-
Evander's eyes widened as he could hear the sound of an egg-shell breaking up. Was this egg of his hatching? Right now? Swiftly, he swung his bag from his back and gently opened it up on the ground. His aunt and uncle would be furious at him if he'd brought along an oversized chicken, he could already imagine the screaming and yelling he'd receive from them.
When he opened up the bag, he let out a small scream as a lot of smoke came out of his backpack. Was it on fire?! He then suddenly spotted two eyes in the smoke, peering at him. Quickly, he shut the bag again; killing off the flow of smoke right away. As his eyes drifted back and forth between the little girl and his bag, he could hear something crying inside it. What was this thing?!
He softly opened up the bag again and the crying got a bit softer. The eyes inside looked at him for the second time, a tear still dripping from the side. Then, out of nowhere, the eyes came closer and flew out of the bag. Evander just sat there with his mouth wide open as a ball of smoke appeared in front of him, floating in the air. "Moku moku?" It brought out, still looking at him.

Ino remained completely still as Kapurimon's hair stood on end from the scream. It took a bit of an effort not to scream himself, loud noises scared him.. he had grown used to quiet Ino that anything above a whisper put him on edge. He panted a bit as they both watched the smoke rose form Evander's backpack. Kapurimon was at a loss of words until Ino finally spoke up. "...that's weird..."
As they heard crying both Kapurimon and Ino stiffened. Kapurimon was scared to death that whatever had been crying was being burned alive inside. The thought made him lose all the color in his blue cheeks and his eyes rolled backwards as he almost fainted. Ino gave him a light shook, she had frozen because she thought that whatever may have been inside must have been unbelievably adorable to make such cute sounds.
As the Mokumon rose out of the backpack, the color in Kapurimon's face returned. "O-oh..! That's a Mokumon. They're really cute are-aren't they?" he asked his tamer with a nervous chuckle. Ino just stared.
"...welcome to the club..." she grumbled as she walked over, hugging Kapurimon close to her to examine both Mokumon and Evander. For the first time since meeting Evander the corners of her lips slowly tugged into a nearly invisible smile. "...baby..."
Kapurimon smiled happily at the two. "Welcome to the world, little brother! And congratulations on becoming a Digidestined, big brother!" he cheerfully to both Evander and the Mokumon.

Evander stared at the ball of smoke like he was seeing water burn. First that talking fur ball, now this smoky things coming out of his backpack. What the hell was going on? He deeply gazed into the eyes of the weird ass being as it got closer, seemingly stroking over his arm with the smoke. It made out little sounds that indicate some sort of laughter, quickly twirling around before stopping again and letting out a louder laugh. The eyes of the being twinkled.
Hearing Kapurimon speak, Evander turned his head towards the little ball in the young girl's hands. "This thing is a Mokumon?" He asked, looking back and forth between the two round figures. They looked really abnormal. "And what's a digidestined?" He then added, still looking at the two. He noticed the young girl getting, slowly examining him and his new-found "digimon" with that glassy look in her eyes. She wasn't one of the emotional kind, that much he knew.
"I think you owe me an explanation, little being." Evander then said, getting up and walking towards Kapurimon. He needed answers, he concluded. Why were these beings here? What did they want? Were they hostile or friendly? What the heck was a digidestined? This was all to damn confusing and he needed answers, desperately looking for them in the talking fur ball.
"Why are you here? What's your purpose? I want answers. This whole situation is to damn confusing." He concluded, fixating his eyes on the little digimon thing that had just hatched from the egg in his backpack. "Moku."

"A..a Digidestined is a human chosen to help protect our world with a pa..partner Digimon... that's all I know."
As Evander walked closer to both of them, Kapurimon buried his little face into his tail. The in-training digimon gave off a small crying whine, hoping that this wouldn't end being too confrontational. He didn't like to fight, especially not with humans. He would never dream of challenging a human... they'd probably end up using him for some kind of sport's ball or something terrible like that. Ino softly tightened her grip on her Digimon as Evander approached, a brow of hers quirking.
"Why are you here? What's your purpose? I want answers. This whole situation is to damn confusing."
Kapurimon unhid his face to glance up at this human. The only thing the little digimon could manage to do was to blink slowly at him, looking utterly befuddled. "That's like me asking you why you're here and what your purpose is, big brother." It was a question that simply could not be answered. It was not known to them.
Ino inwardly felt very proud of her Digimon's response. Looks like her wit was rubbing off on him... even if he hadn't meant it as a joke. It had been cute to her in her eyes. She reached up to pet Kapurimon with her free hand, even though she was aware he probably could not feel it. "...we know as much as you do..."

Slowly, Evander returned back to his old self as the Digimon in the girl's arms started making sense to him. They knew as much as he did. That was next to nothing. So to them it must've come as a complete surprise to get here too, right? Still, it remained pretty weird to see these creatures pop up and talk about protecting worlds and all that. Evander wasn't the heroic type of guy, he'd much rather stay here and live his own life than risk it to protect some weird, digital world.
With his eyes relaxing again, he softly closed them and took a deep breath. He had to calm down to think this out logical, if there even was a logical explanation to all this. As he opened up his eyes again, they shifted over to this Mokumon-fella. According to Kapurimon, his partner digimon. It was swirling around through the air a bit, attempting to catch Evander's attention with several cheeky sounds. Evander did not know what it wanted though.
He then slowly got up from the ground again, this time wiping the dirt and dust off his clothes before looking at both the girl and her digimon again. Normally, he didn't really appreciate a person getting this close but at least the two of them had been friendly and helpful to him; that was admirable in this cold, hard world. He slowly ran his hand through his hair again before putting it back into his pocket and standing there.
"I think we haven't introduced ourselves yet," he muttered, still gazing into her glassy eyes. She really did seem emotionless, which struck Evander as very strange. "My name is Goldstein. Evander Goldstein." He then said, still looking at the little girl. Suddenly, Mokumon bumped into his shoulder and Evander looked behind. "Oh, and I guess this is uhm.. Mokumon?"
The introduction of his was met by a cry of joy from the little cloud of smoke, spinning around it's axle and then standing still and looking at Evander with the playful, innocent eyes it had shown when just hatched. Evander was suspect of that look though, as he knew it'd bring along a lot of trouble. He had seen it happen to children, one moment they were great and happy and the next they'd get all over-active and annoy the hell out of you. Not something he was looking forward to.
His view then wandered up above, into the clear blue sky. It was a nice day today, not to warm but warm enough to be outside and not pick up a cold. No rain, a bit of sunshine and a soft breeze. Days like these were rare in the ever-changing Tokyo and he knew it, changes were about to happening and probably not for the better.

Ino exchanged eye contact with Evander, no flinching or faltering of any kind. He was very tall, that she had noticed right away, but the more she tried to focus on his eyes the more frustrated she would get that there was a big chunk of hair in the way. Her lip twitched, but that was really the only kind of physical hint she was ready to give this young man. She repeated the name in her head over and over until she was certain she had it memorized. There was nothing more embarrassing in this world than to call someone by the wrong name. Kapurimon, however, wasn't so silent at the introduction. He offered both Evander and Mokumon a bright, toothy smile.
"Hello big brother Evander and little brother Mokumon! I am Kapurimon and this is my tamer Ino-chama!" he used Ino's petname this time in the introduction, something he rarely did. The -chama was a combination of both -chan and -sama, and since Kapurimon didn't know basic japanese titles he often got them mixed up. However, he used them anyway for the sake of being polite. He continued watching the little cloud of smoke make noise and move around. He was tempted to join the Mokumon, but he couldn't float like he could. Kapurimon wiggled a bit in Ino's grasp.
"Hey little brother do you wanna play with me, do you?" he asked him with a happy laugh.
Ino slowly tilted her head down to stare at her digimon in disbelief. Since when did he like playing? Whenever she had tried to play with him he would always try to run away. Could it had been because Ino's definition of 'playing' had been 'dress up'? Oh well. The digimon continued to wiggle back and forth in her arms and she was forced to slowly bend over and set him on the ground. As she came back up she glanced up at Evander again. "...nice to meet you... Evander." she said to him, confident she had his name right.

As she got introduced by her digimon, Evander's eyes went from Ino to Kapurimon to Mokumon. He wasn't really good at introducing himself but he thought he had done pretty decent considering she needed to be name-called by her own digimon. Evander had noticed the girl not to be that talkative right away though, which was a positive thing for him. It meant he'd have to speak as little as possible, something he was glad for as he wasn't used to making friends.
She then put Kapurimon on the ground as he asked is Mokumon wanted to play. The little cloud of smoke started to purr as he hovered through the air, it's cheerful eyes looking at Evander and back at Kapurimon. "Go ahead, I guess," Evander answered, nodding towards his new-found digimon pal. "Gives me some time to the rest." He then muttered to himself, looking at the wall right in front of him.
Slowly he walked over to it, kicking a can deeper into the alley towards the dustbins as he cleansed a spot to sit at. As the can flew away and landed, he could hear a cat being startled by the can and quickly speeding off. He then softly sat down, grabbing his digivice and looking at it before putting it away again.
He then looked at the two digimon playing, having fun with each other. They were just like little kids, all cheerful and happy at life. "So how did you get Kapurimon, Ino?" He then asked, looking at her for a second before his vision focused back onto the two digimon. They were curious creatures, them digimon. They sure were.
