:: Kichiro Haru::
Face Claim: Keichi Maebara (Higurashi Matsuri)
Nicknames: N/A
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Digivice: D-3 with white center and light-red handle
Appearence:
Haru is rather average for his age group. He’s around 5 ft. 5 in. tall and weighs around 130 lbs. His body is built rather lean and long, making him look a bit awkward. Some say it even reminds them of a scarecrow the way he’s built. Haru thinks this is an exaggeration of sorts, as he doesn’t see himself being that skinny. Still, he’ll admit to his body proportions being a bit off.[/blockquote]
Moving on to the details, his hair is a bit on the messy side. It’s a dark, brownish color with maybe a tint of red to it. It’s flattened, but it parts in rather odd places and gives it the uncombed look. He wears it long enough that his bangs barely touch the top of his eyes, and in the back it goes down enough that it reaches the bottom of his ears. His eyes are a dark blue color and are a little big, but have a look of youthful optimism in them.
Clothing wise, Haru keeps himself in rather neat shape. During the week he prefers to wear basically his own uniform for the school. He wears a pair of dress pants combined with a white dress shirt. Occasionally he’ll be lazy and wear more casual clothing, but overall likes to look professional and well kempt during school hours. His Digivice is usually attached to his belt by a clip during this time, and he tries to just pass it off as a new toy of some sorts.
On the weekends, Haru does loosen up a bit. He doesn’t wear the school uniform, instead opting for a more casual look. He’ll wear a pair of dark blue jeans, matched up with a belt of a slightly lighter color. As for his shoes, he wears a simple pair of white sneakers for maximum comfort and style. His shirt is a little more formal, being a white dress shirt with a pocket. However, it isn’t cleaned up like his school uniform, so it looks more casual. Underneath that is a red t-shirt, and sometimes he won’t bother with the white dress shirt and wear that instead.
Personality:
Intelligent[/blockquote]
Haru is a rather intelligent kid when it comes to school. Sure, he isn’t at the level of being a complete and total genius, but he isn’t shabby either. He usually makes high marks on the tests and work. Unlike some geniuses, he can’t pull up information like a walking encyclopedia, but he can get the main idea across when the need arises. To keep all this up, he usually has a book in his hand and reads a lot.
He does try to be modest about all this, though occasionally he’ll slip up and say something that sounds arrogant. If he catches it, he’ll quickly apologize and then shut up for a while afterwards. Haru doesn’t want to be seen as arrogant, and doesn’t like arrogant people that much either.
Ditzy
Even if he is intelligent, Haru can be a bit of a scatterbrain. He tends to have some short-term memory problems at times, forgetting things rather often. Confusion is not unknown to him, and he can get things mixed up pretty easily. Other times he says things that make sense to him, but not so much to everyone else. He also slips into daydreams and/or dazes, which lead to him loosing track of his surroundings.
All of this also contributes to another small issue of his; clumsiness. His lack of awareness makes it easy for him to not notice something, leading him to tripping or bumping into something. He’s usually quick enough to make sure nothing gets broken, but that doesn’t mean things don’t slip through from time to time.
Uncomfortable Around Girls
Haru is not a ladies man or Casanova. While he can talk to them fine most of the time, once the subject turns into something about dating or such he falls apart. He goes rather quiet, possibly blushing a little, and starts acting a little nervous. Holding a conversation when he is like this is still possible, but don’t expect much out of him. This, of course, doesn’t even get into the issue of physical contact. Shaking hands or something like that is fine, but past that he’ll go out of his way to avoid touching them unless they say it’s all right. If he accidentally does touch them, he is rather quick to apologize for it.
Tapirmon
While him and Tapirmon are very opposite in terms of personality, Kichiro gets along fairly well with Tapirmon if in a bit of a comedic way. While he enjoys Tapirmon’s company, at times Kichiro is annoyed by Tapirmon’s insistence on calling him “Lord Kichiro” and referring to everything in terms of medieval terms. He would rather their relationship be one of equals, not lord and master. More importantly, Tapirmon’s romantic notions and attempts to play courtier for Kichiro are a constant source of embarrassment for Kichiro, and leads to many situations in which Kichiro attempts to silence Tapirmon. Still, deep down Kichiro knows that Tapirmon is just trying to help make him more assertive and confident in himself….he just wish it wasn’t such a straightforward manner to do so.
History:
Haru was originally born in a smaller city, his parents preferring small towns to large cities. As he grew, however, they eventually decided to move to a larger city, hoping to take advantage of the opportunities for education and job that they offered. They didn’t really like the idea, and to this day still wish to move back or at least go there on vacation, but they did it anyway. Soon after finding an apartment building, Kichiro was enrolled in the area’s school system.[/blockquote]
As a kid, Haru took to school like a fish to water. His teachers liked him very well, saying that he was a good student. He was almost never late for class, and the when he was late it was usually because he was in the library or something. His studies left only a small amount of time for socializing, but he was able to make a few friends even so. Haru was able to keep a nice balance between work and play.
Most of the friends he did make were kids similar to him. They enjoyed reading and academics more than outside activities. While other kids hit the arcades, they would hit the library. Of course, every once in awhile they would sneak off to the arcades for a 'break'. He kept a rather even mix of boys and girls in his circle of friends, not wanting to turn away a friend because of childish boy vs. girl wars.
In this last year of middle school, however, that setup began to change. While in the lower grades he was able to get along fine with them girls, he was beginning to see them as possibly more than just friends as many people started to date, talk about crushes, etc. This kind of thought process embarrassed him, seeing as he never thought he had much of a chance with them. So whenever such ideas popped in his head he showed his embarrassment through blushing, stumbling his words, and trying to get out of the area as soon as possible. This eventually manifested into his inability to even touch a girl. Most people thought he was just a rather chaste guy not looking for a date, but in reality (at least his version of reality, which tended to exaggerate some things) he was more of a ‘closet pervert.’
His eventual introduction into the world of Digimon started off on a rather unusual note. He was getting ready to leave school for the day when he found someone had placed a note in his locker. Reading it, apparently some girl wanted to talk to him and wanted to meet him in some room he had not heard of before. He thought it was a prank at first, but he started to second-guess himself. If this was a prank, he would just let it roll down his back like all the others. On the off chance it was not a prank, however, it would be rude and mean to leave a girl by herself.
So with that in mind, he headed off to the room mentioned in the note. Of course, even after all these years he was unfamiliar with some of the non-academic clubs and therefore didn’t recognize the room number as belonging to the Drama Club. Eventually he found what he hoped was the room, though he wondered why it was all the way in the wing usually reserved for clubs. Opening the door slowly, he stuck his head in to see if anyone was there; there was. Unlucky for him, they were in the middle of trying out costumes, and he came in just as they were changing. The girls in the club, who did recognize him but obviously didn’t like the intrusion, were quick to chase him out.
While he did not mind what he saw, he knew that if word got out of this, then he would be labeled a pervert and his reputation for being, well, the smart guy would be trashed. So he just sat outside in the hallway, and waited for the members to leave so he could explain the situation. When they first saw him, they were about to chase him off again till he started spouting off apologies at the speed of light, and handing them the note that had led him there. They calmed down, and decided to give him the benefit of the doubt about the situation and left it at that.
In the resultant aftermath of the event, his actions and response to it were passed around school as, while being a little perverted, also rather chivalrous in the fact he apologized and explained himself (plus some sympathy for it turning out to be a joke on him, that helped). Still, Kichiro’s own personal embarrassment in regards to it all was still a weight on his shoulders, and while working on a project for his history class things went…weird. Looking up information on knights, the screen went nuts as it glowed brightly, blinding Kichiro till it faded. There in front of him was a strange device. He had seen a few other kids with them, thinking them a game of some sort, but didn’t expect it to come out of a computer. More importantly, he didn’t expect the giant egg that was sitting right next to it. Was this another prank of sorts, and what was in that egg anyway?
Natural curiosity overwhelmed him, and so Kichiro brought the egg home. As he continued on his project, he kept an eye on the egg and keeping it warm till it would hatch. When it finally did, well, Kichiro was obviously surprised by a floating thing of smoke talking to him. The next few weeks were a whirlwind of activity as Kichiro was thrust into the role of a “Chosen Child”, feeding the bottomless pit that eventually became Tapirmon, hiding it from family and friends, and overall adding a lot of stress to his life. Making it worse was Tapirmon’s personality, which was just like the knights he had been researching, although heavily influenced by romanticized views of them (and probably romance novels considering how much of a ladies man Tapirmon thought himself).
The way that was applied by Tapirmon? To help Kichiro find his true “princess” since, as his master after all, it was his job to make him happy. So in turn Kichiro is pelted by Tapirmon’s efforts to teach him to “court” women, and his plans to put him together with one. When not doing so, however, Tapirmon is also a great defender of Kichiro, and for all his troubles with him, Kichiro has grown very attached to the Digimon, seeing him as a real friend…..if he would just stop trying to hook him up with every girl he say.

”So this is the Digital World, huh? Looks more normal than I thought it would be,” Kichiro said as he climbed up a hill, staring at the rather regular looking plain ahead of him. Beside him was his trusty companion and ‘protector’, Tapirmon.[/blockquote]
During this summer break, Kichiro had decided to take his very first real trip to the Digital World. Tapirmon had discussed it all the time, planning on one day bringing his “lord” to explore and discover the brave new world of it. Together, they would scale the mountains, dive the oceans, and fight the evils and wrongs of the world….or at least that was what Tapirmon wanted to do. Right now, Kichiro just wanted to enjoy some lunch here on the safe and sound. This plain was probably the best place for that, and that was why he was setting his backpack down on the ground and pulling out the boxed lunches that he made.
”Why Haru-san, what did you expect of this world? It is just like any other. Mountains, forests, seas, telephone deserts…”
With that Kichiro just looked dully at Tapirmon, who soon realized that yes, in fact, telephone deserts were not a normal part of the human world. Coughing a little bit, Tapirmon excused himself to just go and scout the area out in case there was someone who would wish to do them harm. Kichiro just politely told him thanks while turning and rolling his eyes. As much as he loved Tapirmon, his personality was just so strange and paranoid at times. Still, here in an unknown land, scouting might be a good idea. There could be some wild Digimon attracted by the food he had cooked here.
Soon Tapirmon returned, reporting that the area was clear and safe. Thanking him for his service, Kichiro finished off the last bit of the food preparations for the lunch. Blanket set, drinks ready, Tapirmon’s food ready for him to eat without having to use chopsticks (after all, elephant feet are not the sort of thing chopsticks were built for). Yep, everything seemed to be going good for them right now. After thanking for the meal, the two of them started to munch on the food; Tapirmon enjoying his egg rolls (for extra protein and strength), him his rice balls and egg rolls as well. It was overall just a peaceful afternoon, to be followed by even more exploration and adventure…but not too much. After all, they had to live out till dinner time.
